The following descriptions outline the purpose of each team. Welcoming / Hospitality Team The Welcoming / Hospitality Team will be responsible for greeting visitors as they arrive at the church. They will be the "first responders" to our guests as they arrive. They will register visitors and help answer any questions. The team will be familiar with the church facilities and will be able to help escort visitors to their destination which may include nursery facilities, the handicapped entrance, elevators, Sunday School classes or the Sanctuary. The team may also introduce visitors to the staff, a Sunday School teacher, or a member of the Outreach Team. Membership Outreach Team The Membership Outreach Team will gather information from the Sunday School records or from the Worship Service visitor cards concerning visitors who may be interested in making Grace Baptist Church their church. Ideally, there will be a representative from each Sunday School class on this team so that the team can be a working partner with that program. This team will set up appointments for in-home visits and will follow-up with continuing visits as deemed appropriate. They will create distribution packets with information about the church. New Member Team The New Member Team will be prepared to assist in greeting new members during and following the service the day they join the church. They will help the new member with the registration form and will make an appointment for a in-home visit that week, if possible. They will deliver a membership packet which will include items such as a church directory, church calendar, contribution envelopes, and other available information. They will help enroll new members in Sunday School classes if they are not already enrolled and will offer to escort them to their new classes the following Sunday. This team will work for at least 3 months with new members and encourage them to get them involved in the life of the church. Crisis Team The Crisis Team will make themselves available to the church body to react quickly during times of crisis. They will have a list of resources for various needs if the person in crisis does not know where to go or what to do. This team will be available 24 hours a day to respond to the crisis situation. Hospital Visitation Team The Hospital Visitation Team will stay informed about those persons who are in the hospital and those who are scheduled to be admitted. The team will make personal visits as soon as appropriate. The team will be available to sit with family members during surgeries if necessary or requested. They will assess the ministry needs of the patient and the family members and share necessary information with the church office and staff. Homebound / Nursing Home Team The Homebound/Nursing Home team will develop a list of church members, people regularly present at services, or related family members who, for some reason, cannot attend the regularly scheduled services. This list may include people who are in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, those who are shut-in, or those who are homebound. After the list has been formed, the team will be responsible for scheduling appropriate visitation for these people. The team will let them know that they are important to the Grace Baptist Church family and will keep them informed about church activities. Team members will assess the ministry needs of these people and their family members and will share necessary information with the church office. Bereavement Team The Bereavement Team will stay abreast of the needs of those members who are experiencing bereavement situations. They will make contact to offer support and to assess members needs. They will be available to help families during funeral visitation and services. This team will also be available upon request to help the survivors deal with legal proceedings such as insurance, wills, funeral arrangements, etc. This team will share necessary information regarding the needs of the bereaved with the church office. |
