Elkhorn Baptist Association
The Elkhorn Baptist Association, located at 1161 Red Mile Road
in Lexington, Kentucky, is comprised of 87 cooperating Southern
Baptist churches in central Kentucky. The Association is a
voluntary cooperating member of the Kentucky Baptist Convention
and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Kentucky Baptist Convention
There are more than 760,000 Baptists in Kentucky who are members
of more than 2,500 autonomous Kentucky Baptist churches.
Cooperating together, these churches form the Kentucky Baptist
Convention. These local congregations also comprise 74
self-governing, autonomous Baptist associations. Each
church is self-governing under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Churches elect messengers (not delegates) to various
denominational meetings, including the annual convention.
Southern Baptist Convention
The term "Southern Baptist Convention" refers to both the
denomination and its annual meeting. Working through 1,200 local
associations and 41 state conventions and fellowships, Southern
Baptists share a common bond of basic Biblical beliefs and a
commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire
world.
WMU - Women's Missionary Union
Founded in 1888, Woman's Missionary Union is an auxiliary of the
Southern Baptist Convention that seeks to equip adults, youth,
children and preschoolers with missions education to become
radically involved in the mission of God. Headquartered in
Birmingham, Ala., WMU is a nonprofit organization that offers an
array of missions resources including conferences, ministry
ideas and models, volunteer opportunities, curriculum for
age-level organizations, leadership training, books and more.
Cooperative Baptist
Fellowship
CBF is a fellowship of Baptist Christians and churches who share
a passion for the Great Commission and a commitment to Baptist
principles of faith and practice. The Fellowship’s mission is to
serve Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their
God-given mission.
Baptist Seminary of Kentucky
Baptist Seminary of Kentucky prepares leaders who persuasively
present the Gospel and articulate what it means to be Christian.
They will be students of the Scriptures and the historical roots
of Christianity, persons of ethical integrity skilled in the
tasks of ministry while maintaining fidelity to historic Baptist
principles. Gary "Sonny" Price, Jr. & Lee Davis from our
congregation are attending at this time.
Oneida Baptist
Institute
Oneida Baptist Institute opened its doors January 1st, 1900 as a
school for children of the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. OBI
was the vision of Professor James Anderson Burns, a converted
feudist who believed that the Christian Gospel and education
were the answers to the cycle of violence between families in
the mountains. God blessed Burns' vision and the school was
established and prospered. We continue to have a vital mission
to the children of Eastern Kentucky. |
