Some of these opportunities include:
Feed the Hungry:
Grace Baptist Church is honored to be a location for the Elkhorn Baptist Association's "Feed the Hungry" program. Every Thursday night, 52 weeks a year, we help provide sack meals for anyone in need. Grace leads the way with volunteers preparing sandwiches, assembling the sacks with items, and then distributing the sacks to those in need. Volunteers are always needed as well as food donations that can be distributed. As needs arise or opportunities present themselves other items are distributed such as clothing, personal hygiene, literature, etc. A special thanks to Carol DeWitt as the coordinator from Grace as she works with Sandra Williams and the Elkhorn office.
Race Track Ministries:
Winter Care:
Samaritan's Purse:
Shoebox Ministry:
Christmas Toy Drive:
Short term Missionary
Service:
From the beginning of the congregation’s existence there has been an involvement in mission programs. In recent years the congregation has seen mission volunteers from our congregation serve for short periods in Kenya, Poland, and Russia. We were honored when two members of our congregation, Daniel and Kristyn Wainright, were appointed to serve for two years as missionaries to France. They are presently back in the States continuing their education. Today the congregation emphasizes social ministry projects especially to some of the neighborhoods of North Lexington.
Disaster Relief:
Recently we sent Scott Ellis to Grand Isle, LA with a group from the Elkhorn Association to help provide relief support for those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina.
